Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Program
The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) program is a long-term residency initiative by the Malaysian government, designed to attract global individuals and families to live, invest, and settle in Malaysia.
Since its launch in 2002, MM2H has successfully welcomed thousands of families and retirees from China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the UK, and other regions, making Malaysia their ideal second home.
Benefits of MM2H
Renewable visa with validity up to 10 years (or longer under new categories)
Main applicant can bring spouse, unmarried children under 34, parents and parents in law

MM2H Application Process
Step 1: Consultation with Official Agent
- Eligibility assessment
- Policy breakdown (Platinum/Gold/Silver/SEZ categories)
- Q&A on financial requirements, family inclusion, taxes, education, etc.
Step 2: Sign Service Agreement + Deposit Payment
- Official contract with registered MM2H agency
- Clear timeline, fees, and service scope
- Pay initial deposit to start the process
Step 3: Document Preparation
Required documents include:
- Copy of passport
- Resume in English
- Police clearance certificate (original + translated)
- Bank statements / income proof (meeting category requirements)
- Birth/marriage certificates (for dependents)
* All documents must be translated in English & notarized
Step 4: Submission
- Agent reviews & submits application within 1 working day
Step 5: Processing (2–3 Months)
- Standard approval time is usually 2 - 3 months(depending on how many people are applying and the complexity of background checks)
- Government conducts background checks, financial verification, etc.
Step 6: Approval Letter
- Conditional approval granted
- Must enter Malaysia within 90days from approval date to complete next step
Step 7: Enter Malaysia for Final Steps
The following steps must be completed in person in Malaysia:
- Open local bank account & place fixed deposit
- Complete medical check-up
- Purchase local insurance
Step 8: Visa Issuance
- MM2H visa sticker placed in passport
Post-Approval Obligations & Renewal
- Must stay at least 90 days per year
- If the main applicant is over 50 years old, the 90-day minimum stay is not required
- If the main applicant is under 50, they must stay at least 90 days within a year (can be accumulated with dependent members)
- Must purchase a property within 1 year after the visa is endorsed
- If a property was purchased within 2 years before the visa is endorsed, partial fixed deposit withdrawal is allowed
- After the visa is endorsed, partial fixed deposit withdrawal is allowed for property purchase, education fees, and medical expense
- Visa renewal can be applied before expire
